After a few years of tending to the blogTV community and listening to the common issues and requests, blogTV has come up with a new system of moderation for the site.
With the release of the new PAGE BAN TOOL and chat commands, blogTV members will be able to ban other members from entering each other's pages in any way and will be able to control the chat much more easily. That means no more nasty comments, no more chat invaders and much more freedom from moderation.
* The PAGE BAN works from the chat or from the person's profile page. When you BAN a person from your chat room, the next time they refresh they will no longer have access to your page.
The important changes that everyone needs to know about are:
- Mods will no longer deal with minor harassment: Mild harassment includes name calling, trolling, spamming and other less common issues on that same level.
- Mods will be focusing on bigger problems: Bigger problems include pornography (sex acts and nudity), underage broadcasters and severe racism.
- Mods will be paying more attention to the positive: This means that with the time freed up from dealing with petty harassment, the mods will have more time to seek out new talent on the site, promote them and assist them to make the most of their broadcasts. We have been focused on the negative for too long and the good people of blogTV deserve our attention.
- YOU will be trusted with much more freedom: Since we are giving you the responsibility to take care of the law on your own pages, we will also be giving you more freedom. These freedoms include being able to discuss whatever you want without fear of moderator interference, being able to dance a little sexually (still not nude of course) and being able to NOT show your face on cam if you so choose.
Instructions for chat commands:
In order to use the new chat commands properly you will need to type a backslash followed by the command, as follows:
1. /search username
- Available to: ALL USERS
- This will function like the existing search button, but now the name will be linked to the room the person is in.
2. /kick username
- Available to: BROADCASTER, OPS, MODERATORS
- This will function like the existing kick button.
3. /op username
- Available to: BROADCASTER & MODERATORS
- This will function like the existing regular OPs.
4. /deop username
- Available to: BROADCASTER, OPS & MODERATORS
- This will function like the existing regular OPs.
5. /ban username
- Available to: BROADCASTER
- This will function like the existing regular ban today, but will also work if the user has left the room.
6. /unban username
- Available to: BROADCASTER
- This will function like the existing regular ban today, but will also work if the user has left the room.
* When you Unban a username it must be case sensitive
You can use this to kick guests, in the following format:
7. /kick Guest – g_name

btw, this wont solve any harrassment issues on the site. people can make new usernames very easily, and continue to do the same bullshit. But i guess these are great features to add.

Yeah these features are pretty cool. I think your on the right track with everything. It is alot easier than chasing some of the idiots around. Can't wait to see new things from blogtv in the future.

More then 2 co-hosts would be laggy as hell on blog itself. Webcam max + Skype + decent ram = duel co-hosting.

Im liking how we can ban people even if they left the room ;) And the split co-host is nice. Also, the volume control is much better now, nothing bad about this update, good job Blogtv :)
I like the new Ban feature on each homepage. This will make it easier to get rid of the people who harass those on blog. This will help out a lot of broadcasters, and you guys are making some great steps forward. Thanks for always looking out for the community :D <3

I can't wait to see what new emoticons will be chosen to add by blogtv. If you need more explanation on moss, it is a prehistoric plant that comes in over 12 000 species and since it grows everywhere, it would be appropriate to find it in the blogtv chatrooms. ; )

Agreed, the hit and run gang can be stopped, but whats to stop them creating a new account in 5 mins? Is it possible to ban a repeat offenders ip? (Proxy servers as you said are the problem) Is there a limit on how many accounts one ip can own? I know that Ban_Hero has at least 30 accounts, with variations of the word Ban, eg, Baaaaaaan, "Justice4Reptillians" is his main account and is totally Created to troll/spam VonHeltons room "NWO & UFO"

get rid of the embedded flash commercials that dont always load and then sometimes they mess up the broadcasters show *no sound or video freeze* then you have to click refresh and of course you get the damn 30 second commercial again and sometimes the same problem... oh i know you have pro to get rid of that but i'm not gonna pay sorry and many many people wont and it's one the many reasons people when i talk to them don't wanna come back to blogtv
it's just a royal pain to try and surf the shows for a good one. i know you want advertisers to raise money it costs money to run a site i am aware of this but the embedded ad is just a big mistake. but i'm sure you have noplans on taking that out.. just gonna advise people to buy the pro plan pffft well i say bye then...
just to echo what everyone else has said, the new improvements have made a big differences thanks for sorting it out ime sure there are many more that have also found it useful but just havent commented.
