CRIME DOESN’T PAY ON BLOGTV!

Posted by blogTV.com On October 22, 2009 29 COMMENTS

The mods on duty pulled his IP address and contacted the police in the area of the ISP. They were able to reach the state troopers in the location quickly and asked them to please hurry to find this teenage boy who allegedly was attempting suicide.

Troopers responding to the residence, located the 17-year-old male who admitted to creating a hoax on blogTV by putting ketchup on his arms in an attempt to make it look like he had cut his wrists. The 17 year old explained that he had no intention of hurting himself and that he only did it for a joke.

State Police report that this incident tied up their resources and personnel for a considerable amount of time, while trying to locate what was believed to be a young man attempting to commit suicide. Troopers
consider this young man’s actions to be anything but a joke and plan to pursue criminal charges after consultation with the District Attorneys Office.

Blimey, its amazing what people do to get viewers. I think this should be a lesson to all those who are thinking up a ludicrous show plan to think before they broadcast. Wasting the Mods and the Polices time is not funny.

The only problem with this story is there was no ketchup...only real blood... the three investigating New York State police officers saw cuts on the young boys arms during their initial investigation that night and decided they were not deep enough to bleed when in fact they were caused by a razor blade and were bleeding. The young boy was scared he would be in trouble if he told them the cuts were real and that he had used a razor blade to cut his wrist and arms. The next day the cuts had scabbed over. This kid could have been helped by the New York State Police officers if they had proper training when in reality they made his life a living hell just to make themselves look good in the public domain. After they assured him nothing bad was going to happen to him that night... the next day they waited until he got home from school and arrested him at his home and called all the news departments to wait at the NY State police barracks so they could parade him in front of the cameras in handcuffs like he was some hardened criminal when in reality he really needed help dealing with real pressures in his life. Clarence has had a rash of teen suicides and this youngster had three of his close friends commit suicide within two years. Law enforcement officers should be trained to err on the side of caution when dealing with teenagers and suicide and know the warning signs. Never was a call made to a mental health professional or social worker to make sure the kid was really OK before they arrested and charged and publicly humiliated him in front of the world. Three words: teenager, cutting and suicide should be taken very seriously by law enforcement and they should have proper training when dealing with such circumstances.

    troupers? ITS TROOPERS

  7. I haven't seen the clip, but it sounds like a bad joke just went a little too far... unfortunate for the kid, one major, stupid, over-the-top joke and it will count against him for life...

Doesn't really seem fair to me.

  8. Xavier says:

What a dumbass, I hope he is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

  9. ConfusedDude says:

How is it they go all out on some kid playing a prank, when warning him should scare gim enough, really. Ground him for a month or two. That should do it, this seemsoverkill which usually just backfires.
Why? Because he pissed COPS off? Why is it they are wasting MORE resources on him?!
What about all these "trolls" all over the internet who do worse? They are reported to cops constantly, and constantly brushed off. Yet bring out the tazers and handcuffs and moths long court time for a teenage kid who probably already learned his lesson the minute the first cop knocked on his door.

did you see on the news those 2 pilots were using their laptops when they missed the airport by 150 miles? i heard they were using blogtv to do a "name that tune" show while they should have been landing a plane. yet ANOTHER reason blogtv should be destroyed!

  11. Lets Stalk says:

lets talk goaded this kid into pulling this prank so they can write about it, lets talk spends hours and hours watching these impressionable kids so they can get their lame little story.

  12. Omega192 says:

suicide makes me giggle but fake attempts make me ROFL!!!!!!!!!!

  18. Burt Reynolds says:

The kid didn't report his suicide to anyone, including the police. Someone else did. He should get punished, but to the full extent of the law? You know how far they can go with the dumbest of excuses. This isn't even an American site. Its server is in Israel. Do you realize that terrorist use this site as a teaching tool to blend in western cultures? Go after that crap and whip the kidz butt and ground him for life. Leave it at that.

  19. KevZheng says:

Okay, I do not believe he should be charged for this because he definitely did report the suicide on his own. Some "concerned" mods pulled his ip address. They should not have over reacted. And another thing, explain to me how you kill yourself by cutting your wrists. If he were to kill himself he could've done so in many ways but cutting wrists do not seem like a valid suicide method. And "tied up their resources" ? Give me a break. They probably didn't have anything better to do. And also is it really the government's right to stop someone from killing themselves anyways?

  20. Atomic says:

Committing an act of suicide as a joke, is no joke to begin with. On some other streaming site a couple of years ago. someone committed suicide for real. But no one actually took it seriously and thought that was a joke, and that the viewers were just playing along with it. This was on the news by the way. So think before doing anything something similer. It maybe funny to you. But you got to consider that others may take that in and do the same. It's like if a pop star done nothing but swear alot, then it's ok to swear.

  21. Heather says:

I was there during this show.
the sad part is was that he wasnt attempting suicide. he was just a stupid teenager looking for attention. it definitely didnt look ketchup. he did a few in front of the camera...so idk how that would work. but im sure he still hasnt learned his lesson.

  22. Jonathan Oneil says:

That's very sad... People will do anything to get attention from the public, (That was stupid)Shame On You bad boy

  23. DJ-KSH says:

This is so amazing of how people mis-use the internet and think that they can't get caught later. Surprise!!!!!!! You just got to remember not to do things that will get you in trouble later in life.

  24. Normally suicide is committed out of severe depression.

It should never be consider as a joke! Life is the concern! There's no such valuable in this world as our lives!

  25. crime is punishable under every circumstances. Crime does not pay in the long run.

  26. Jase Aaron says:

he should be charged? it's not like it was him who tied up police resources by calling in an emergency. on the other hand, he was indeed ignorant enough to not expect someone to report it. to call it a crime though is completely ridiculous i would say.

  27. In response to KevZheng's post, I have to tell you that a suicide call does indeed tie up a police department's resources.

Police are required to attend any situation where someone is attempting to harm themselves. They are in need of assistance, and it if someone tries to kill themselves it is a mental health issue. Police will respond to a call like that with urgency.

Officers who were tied up on this hoax suicide call could have been used on another high priority call, and instead were wasting time dealing with.

Yes, he should have been charged. Will anything happen to him? Probably not. I don't know what happened with the case, but at the least I hope he had to stand before a judge and pay for a lawyer.
