10 Reasons You Should Drop By the blogTV Lounge

Introducing the "BlogTV Lounge", a new chillout channel where you can come hang out in-between shows, promote yourself, learn about other shows and meet new and interesting people! Need more reasons to check it out? Here, take ten:

1) Hang Out in Blog Limbo

The idea of "The Lounge" came from years of hearing blogTV users say they wish they had some kind of lobby or main chat where they can simply go hang out in-between shows. Often times people find themselves waiting for a friend to go live, or when a show they were watching has ended and they're not sure where to go next. "The Lounge" is a new kind of home base where people can now check-in until they decide which show is next on their agenda!

2) Mix & Mingle with Fellow Chatters

Since the blogTV Lounge is a blog-neutral environment and not based on one specific user/broadcaster, its an awesome way to mix and mingle with people you wouldn't necessarily have a chance to meet from hanging out in your regular shows. With different users checking in throughout the day, you can usually find various topics of conversation, interesting debates and random chit-chat from different people around the world. How active the chat is will vary depending on the time of day and what live shows are currently on, but stick around long enough and you're bound to run across cool and interesting new blog buddies. Don't want to chat? That's fine too! Feel free to lurk, ignore or just do your own thing...

3) Stroll Down Memory Lane

As part of the new lounge, we've been showing random blogTV images of favorite pastimes, different broadcasters (old and and new) and other blog-related pics. With almost 900 images added so far, you can sit back and enjoy hours of this 'Virtual Scrapbook', reminisce about your favorite blogTV memories and get to know new and interesting broadcasters. Users can submit their own images to the scrapbook, whether favorite screencaps or promotional banners, and give other people a chance to check them out. Want your pic added to the rotation? Simply send it to content@blogTV.com and be sure to add your username to the image!

4) Shameless Self-Promotion

We've all been in rooms where someone links to their own show or to a show they're watching and the usual response from the chat is something like: "Ughh, stop spamming". Well at the blogTV Lounge, not only is self promotion "allowed" but it's actually encouraged! As mentioned, we invite you to submit your blogTV pics to the rotation, but we also encourage you to drop a link in the chat letting people know what your show is about and when you plan on going live. It's a great way to gain more exposure for your own show or recommend good shows that are currently live.

5) Kick Back to Good Tunes

You can't be expected to lounge around without some good tunes playing, right? At the blogTV Lounge you can always kick up your heels and relax to some of your favorite songs. Many users have mentioned that they come especially for the music, and some even keep the page running in the background while they do other stuff around the house! Can't remember the name of the song or the band who sings it? No worries: Check out the playground below the chat and you'll always find the current song name and artist!

6) Open 24 Hours (Sort Of)

The blog-insomniacs among us can usually be seen zombie-ing around the site at the craziest of hours. It's always been that way around here which is why we wanted to offer you a place to drop by at any given hour, around the clock. Our aim is to keep the show running 24/7 or at least as often as possible. While that isn't always the case (hey, things happen!) you can almost always rely on The Lounge being open if you're looking for a place to chill out.

7) Shoot a Game of Pool

So you're up, you're listening to music, and you're still bored? Well, every good lounge has a decent pool table and woohoo - so does ours!  Whenever you feel like passing the time, why not scroll down to the embedded OMGpop pool game and test your skills with fellow blogTV members or other random people online!

8) Cuddle Up by the Fireplace

In most parts of the world, it's currently cold, wet and basically - blah! If you're experiencing one of those days, feel free to drop by the lounge and snuggle up by the cozy embedded fireplace. Oh and don't forget a nice cup of hot chocolate to keep you warm and fuzzy inside ;)

9) Sleep/Crash/Park Your Name

One of the most interesting phenomenons we've witnessed on blogTV over the past few years is "sleeping in the chat". Sometimes people 'accidentally' fall asleep after long nights of blogTV-ing, while others like to purposely keep their names online or on "Away" status even when they decide to go to sleep. It seems to be a way for them to stay connected with their friends even after they go to bed, to continue receiving private messages and basically to stick around because they want to! Until today, these users have usually "parked" their names in the their own rooms, but since sleeping is now officially allowed in the new lounge, feel free to join other users in what is now becoming the official blogTV "Bed & Breakfast"!

10) Endless Possibilities are Endless

The blogTV Lounge is a brand new concept, barely out of diapers and still open to changes. While the response has already been overwhelmingly positive, we are still testing it out and together, seeing where it can go. We've had a few ideas for other occasional uses of lounge (i.e. giveaways, theme nights, etc) and we're open to all suggestions.. so stick around, stay tuned and happy chilling!
